American Institute of Steel Construction, located in Chicago, is a nonprofit, technical institute and trade association that was established in 1921. It serves the structural steel designing community and construction industry in the United States. It provides various structural steel-related technical and market-building services, including specifications and code development, research, education, technical assistance, quality certification, standardization and market development. The institute also sets certification standards for the steel industry. Additionally, the institute provides various training and education programs, such as the AISC Fabricator Insurance Program. It also operates the Steel Solutions Center that provides technical assistance, solutions and tools for structural steel designing. It works directly with universities to encourage and support classes and programs in structural steel designing and construction work. Additionally, it promotes teaching through seminars and workshops.
